Levallois Industry
The Levallois stone flaking technique followed the Acheulian industry. Thought to be invented around 300,000 years ago. The Levallois industry was named after the suburb in Paris where some of the finds were made. This technique is mostly associated with the Neanderthals of the middle stone age. In this technique large flakes from a prepared curved core were hammered off to be flat on one side. The large flakes used as skinning knifes while smaller flakes would sometimes be mounted onto a haft and used as spears.
